Attorneys, executors and estate administrators who need to publish deceased estate notices in March 2026 are urged to take note of the confirmed submission deadlines.

In terms of the Administration of Estates Act, a Notice to Creditors is published on Form J193, while a Liquidation and Distribution Account notice is published on Form J187. These publications trigger statutory time periods and must be placed timeously to avoid delays in estate administration.

The March 2026 publication schedule is as follows:

Publication date: 6 March 2026
Submission deadline: 25 February 2026 at 17:00

Publication date: 13 March 2026
Submission deadline: 3 March 2026 at 12:00

Publication date: 20 March 2026
Submission deadline: 10 March 2026 at 12:00

Publication date: 27 March 2026
Submission deadline: 17 March 2026 at 12:00

Late submissions cannot be guaranteed for the intended week of publication.

Once published, a J193 notice initiates the statutory claims period, while a J187 notice opens the inspection period in terms of Section 35(5). Any delay in publication will shift the estate timeline accordingly.

Those responsible for estate administration are therefore encouraged to submit completed forms, together with the relevant Master’s reference number and executor details, well before the applicable deadline.
